SO SAD! General Hospital & Ryan Hope Alum Ron Hale Dead At Age 78
Some sad news for General Hospital (GH) fans. Actor Ron Hale, who once played Mike Corbin, passed away on August 27, 2024, according to an obituary. He was 78 years old.
Hale was also a part of Ryan’s Hope and played Dr. Rodger Coleridge on the soap.
General Hospital Alum Ron Hale’s Port Charles Legacy
Hale played the role of mob boss, Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) father, on and off, from 1995 to 2010. He also had a run on the soap’s sister show, Port Charles, playing the same character in 1997.
Fans may recall that actor Max Gail was recast in the role from 2018 to 2021. Sadly, the Mike Corbin character passed away from dementia in 2021.
In addition, Hale was on Ryan’s Hope from 1975 to 1989 and was nominated for two Daytime Emmy awards in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor during his time on the show.
General Hospital Alum Ron Hale – More Details Surrounding His Passing
Hale was born on January 2, 1946, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He went to Furman University and was an actor who participated in movies, the stage, and TV shows.
Billy Warlock (GH’s ex-AJ Quartermaine, DOOL’s ex-Frankie Brady) hopped on X (Formerly known as Twitter) to offer condolences and pay tribute to Hale.
Warlock states in his twee, “It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve lost another great one. My dear friend Ron Hale has passed away. Ron was an amazing talent and an even better friend. I will miss you.”
In addition to GH and Ryan’s Hope, Hale also worked on television shows like Matlock, Search For Tomorrow, and MacGyver – just to name a few. He was also in the 1976 movie, All The President’s Men, playing the role of Frank Sturgis.
Hale is survived by his nieces and nephews, Lori Brown, Max Brabham, Erin Wilson, and Marc Brown.
