General Hospital’s Emma Samms Dives Into Holly’s Relationship With Sasha
Emma Samms explained that the Holly/Sasha shocking revelation was one of the best plot twists she’s ever been a part of.
General Hospital fans were certainly surprised when it was revealed that Holly is Sasha’s mother. Sasha wasn’t shocked and talked about working with her Mom on past schemes, but those days are behind her now. Emma Samms spoke about the story and its repercussions which have thrown fans for a loop.
A Great Plot Twist
Feeling that anything is possible in a soap opera, Samms, who plays Holly, talked with Soap Opera Digest to give her point of view about the story that she believed was a good one. When they filmed the reveal scene, Samms stated that many crew members, including the camera people, let out audible gasps on the reveal. And ultimately, she was very proud of that moment.
The stunning revelation was more than Samms imagined. And she felt, “It’s as good as it gets, I think, in terms of plot twists, that anybody could have hoped for, really. Certainly me!” Samms had never shared scenes with Sofia Mattsson (Sasha) and was delighted at her professionalism. She praised Mattsson, stating, “She is absolutely delightful and an incredible actress. It’s been a complete joy to get to know her and to work with her.”
The Family Tree Has More Branches
Samms felt that Mattsson resembled her own daughter, Beatrice Holloway. As a result, she found it difficult to play Holly as a terrible mother. She couldn’t relate because, in real life, she values her connection with her kids. But Holloway encouraged her to do the story, reminding Samms, “It’s just acting! In real life, you’re a very good mother!” Samms was happy for those words that helped her press forward and do the best she could with the material.
Samms also praised the writers for digging deep into her character’s history and finding a way that Sasha being her daughter could be plausible. “All in all, it just boils down to the most fantastic plot twist that I’ve ever done, I think!” she remarked. It’ll be fun to see how this story plays out, especially as Sasha and Holly’s connection is revealed to other characters. It will also be interesting to see if Holly’s other secret-not-so-secret child, Ethan Lovett (James Ryan), will come to Port Charles. Then, he’ll be near his family, especially his ailing sister, Lulu (Alexa Havins).
