Between Netflix’s Addams Family take, Wednesday, and the Beetlejuice sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, (Oh no, we just said his name three times!) a certified hit, it’s hard to miss star Jenna Ortega these days. It’s no surprise to see her turning in one incredible performance after another, of course, especially for Days of Our Lives fans who have been watching the Peacock sudser for years.

Because before Ortega’s Scream franchise days, before Wednesday Addams and even before her Jane the Virgin debut, the actress turned in an unforgettable performance on Days of Our Lives. No, Ortega didn’t have a contract or recurring role, but her Days of Our Lives appearance did predate her Jane the Virgin role by about a year. She was only on for one episode, but it was a memorable one!

And when the show’s official Instagram account reminded folks of her appearance, the fans — of both the show and the actress — could not stop talking about it!

For those who weren’t watching at the time, this was when Eric was a priest (the first time) and working at St. Luke’s Academy. Hayley was one of the young students who’d lost both her parents, was being raised by her second cousin and was having a tough time at school. So Kristen (played back then by The Young and the Restless’ Eileen Davidson) showed her softer side by having a talk with the tearful little girl and sharing her own struggles with being orphaned and feeling alone.

It was a touching moment only slightly dampened by knowing that Kristen would go on to do downright horrendous things to Eric that would get him defrocked. But hey, nobody’s perfect. Ortega’s star quality was already obvious with the tearful performance she turned in.

Classic Days episodes can be tough to track down, but Ortega herself immortalized the clip over on her Facebook page when it aired 11 years ago! You  can check it out below.
