Eric Braeden Moved to Tears at Unveiling of Rebuilt Newman Ranch Set for Upcoming Y&R 13,000th Episode
The upcoming 13,000 episode milestone of The Young and the Restless will be very heartfelt and emotional. However, even before the celebration starts next month, tears were already shed and those of joy, when Y&R’s iconic stars, Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman), were shown the refurbished Newman ranch set that is being unveiled for the 13K milestone.
In a preview, Deadline got an inside look at the moment when Eric and Melody hit the soundstage for a scene and were awestruck by the new set built just in time for the latest milestone for the top-rated CBS daytime drama series.
Coming up in story, and on the November 8th episode of Y&R, viewers learn that Victor secretly decided to rebuild their original home after it was burned down in 2012 by none other than Sharon (Sharon Case)! Now in 2024, Sharon is as unstable as ever, after “doing away” with Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) and framing Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) for the crime. Victor’s plan all along was to surprise the completed house on an unsuspecting Nikki.
If you catch the video, Eric is moved to tears and sits down in a chair inside the Newman Ranch, while Melody looks around the set and sees pieces that hold special memories from the original version. In fact, Eric told the cameras, “I never thought that I’d become attached to a set where I worked but 44 years. Imagine that! I was actually moved to tears because it was so long coming, you know.”

Y&R’s executive producer and head writer, Josh Griffith said in a statement on bringing back the set, “The Newman Ranch burning down was an emotional story for the Newmans, but it was not lost on us that the Newman family and Genoa City just weren’t the same without Victor and Nikki’s original home. We’ve discussed bringing the set back for many years, and decided that its return around Y&R’s 13,000th episode would be perfect timing to help celebrate this incredible milestone as well as the legacy of Victor and Nikki. I must give special thanks to Y&R’s art department and stage crew who went above and beyond in executing the return of one of Y&R’s most iconic sets.”
